For the last year we have been working on a mobile app called MiniCarta for collecting spatial data in the field. Compared to other apps out there, we felt that collecting data fast, easily, and simply was our main goal. While we were testing the app and getting ready for launch, the COVID-19 outbreak started to spread and many states found themselves under stay at home orders. Looking to find some small way that our company could help, and encouraged by our friends in public safety, we decided to make some quick changes to MiniCarta and launch it a bit early.
We had initially intended on releasing a basic version of the app with the option to upgrade to a Pro version to unlock more features like custom map icon packs, data download and conversion, and unlimited point collection. It is our sincere hope that MiniCarta can be helpful in some way to public health and safety professionals who are responding to calls for service, tracking records of infected households, and tracking available resources and supplies available.
Because of COVID-19 we have moved the icon packs for emergency services that mirror the National Public Safety and GIS Consortium specification to the free version of the app, as well as making unlimited data collection and sharing free for now.
